Henan is the largest peanut production province in China, covering an area of nearly 20 million mu. This year, relying on the new peanut varieties with high oleic acid selected by Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences and supporting technologies, it was demonstrated and promoted in Nanyang, Xinyang and other major producing areas, which led to a large-scale balanced increase in peanut production and efficiency in the province. Peanut is an important oil-bearing crop. Peanut with high oleic acid content and good quality is an important direction for the breeding and popularization of new peanut varieties in China. The results of yield measurement in demonstration area in Henan province show that the average yield per mu is more than 15% higher than that in ordinary peanut fields.

At the same time of peanut harvest, 1 million mu of corn and soybean planted in strips in Henan also ushered in a bumper harvest. Li Xiaodong, a big grain grower in Luohe, benefited from this new planting model. Not only did corn yield not decrease, but also one crop of soybeans was harvested. Moreover, due to the nitrogen fixation of soybeans, soil fertility was increased, and the amount of chemical fertilizer applied was also reduced a lot.
